hololive Next NEWS | “Visual Updates” to Support the Future of Our Talents Get Underway!
Looking toward the 10th anniversary and the future beyond.
At hololive production, we are launching “Visual Updates,” an initiative to refine each talent’s standard outfit and visual presentation in line with their current activities and the challenges they will take on in the future.
We will take a closer look at the project announced on “hololive Next,” including what the initiative entails and why we are undertaking it now.
The updates will vary from talent to talent.
Broadly speaking, there are three different approaches:
Building on the existing design, we will refine the visual presentation to bring out its appeal even further.
We will revisit and refine outfits, motifs, and other visual elements based on the concepts and activities that are important to each talent today.
In some cases, we may make more substantial changes to reflect a talent’s current activities and the person they aspire to become.
The updates will not follow the same approach for every talent. Instead, we will work with each talent to determine the update that is most appropriate for them.
That is precisely why “Visual Updates” are not intended to deny their past appearance or history, nor to “replace the past.”
Above all, this initiative is about valuing the appeal and journey that each talent has built over the years, while enabling them to continue their activities for years to come and expand the scope of their expression and the challenges they take on.
There are three main reasons behind these updates.
Today, our talents are active in a wide range of fields beyond their daily streams, including live performances, music, merchandise, games, video content, events, and activities overseas.
As a variety of activities that were not envisioned at the time of their debuts have emerged, we will consider visual presentations and forms of expression that better fit what they are doing today.
The technologies surrounding VTuber expression continue to evolve, including Live2D, 3D models, and live performance production.
By making use of current technologies and production environments, there are now more ways than ever to bring out the unique appeal of our talents through their visual presentation.
As talents continue their activities, what they want to take on and “the version of themselves they want to show going forward” may also change over time.
By taking their current goals and aspirations into consideration, we will work together with each talent to create a look that allows them to continue their activities comfortably for many years to come.
Having walked alongside hololive production for so many years, Sora is uniquely suited to lead this first update. While carrying forward the qualities that have made her so special over the years, we will introduce a new look that reflects her current activities and what lies ahead.
Her new visual will be unveiled at a Visual Update Reveal Live!
Be sure to look forward to all that is to come as her activities continue to expand alongside her new look.
Visual Update Reveal Live Link
As part of this project, we will continue to consider visual updates on an ongoing basis, including for talents who have not previously had the opportunity to undergo a major update of this kind.
The talents selected for an update, and the timing of its implementation, will be determined based on a careful consideration of factors such as:
・Time since debut
・The history of model and outfit updates to date
・Current activities
・Upcoming activities and projects
・Production schedules
・The talent’s own preferences and direction for their activities
Furthermore, this project does not involve applying the same type of update uniformly to all talents.
We will consider each update individually, consulting with the talent to determine the visual presentation and direction of activities that best suit their needs.
Rather than updating a large number of talents at once, we plan to proceed gradually over the course of several years, taking the time to carefully consider each talent’s visual presentation.
At this time, we are using approximately five to eight talents per year as a general guideline.
However, the number of talents receiving an update and the timing of their reveals may change depending on their individual activities, production circumstances, and other factors.
The order will be determined by taking into account a variety of factors, including each talent’s scheduled activities and events, production status, the timing best suited for their reveal, and discussions with the talent themselves.
Rather than focusing on “who goes first” or “who goes next,” our priority is to deliver each update at the timing that is best suited to each individual talent.
“Visual Updates” is an initiative to carry forward everything our talents have built over the years while connecting it to their future activities and new challenges.
Beginning with Tokino Sora as the first update, we will gradually introduce the talents as they move toward new forms of visual expression.
The 10th anniversary, and beyond.
We hope you’ll continue to keep an eye on the future of hololive production.

“Visual Updates” is an initiative to update each talent’s standard outfit and visual presentation in line with their current activities and future plans, while preserving the appeal and individuality they have cultivated to date. The updates will vary from talent to talent.

We will revisit and refine outfits, motifs, and other visual elements based on the concepts and activities that are important to each talent today.
A Greater Update to Their Overall Visual Impression

The updates will not follow the same approach for every talent. Instead, we will work with each talent to determine the update that is most appropriate for them.
Honoring Their Journey So Far, and Looking Ahead

As a variety of activities that were not envisioned at the time of their debuts have emerged, we will consider visual presentations and forms of expression that better fit what they are doing today.

Regarding the Order of Implementation
The order in which “Visual Updates” are carried out does not represent a ranking or priority among talents.
